Johanna & Greg Larkin

Johanna

Johanna is a visual artist with a particular love of classical still life painting. After many years painting wildlife, her practice evolved towards still life and the quiet beauty of everyday objects, light and atmosphere. In 2023, she travelled to Italy to study at the Florence Academy of Art, an experience that deepened her interest in traditional painting methods and ultimately helped inspire the creation of Greenhills Art Centre

At Greenhills, Johanna brings together her love of art, beautiful spaces and hospitality. She manages the retreat programme, works closely with visiting artists and is usually the person guests have been corresponding with long before they arrive.

Johanna also teaches her own still life and colour mixing retreats at Greenhills. More than anything, she loves seeing guests settle into the rhythm of Greenhills — having the time and space to create, learn, share meals and enjoy being surrounded by other creative people.

Greg

Greg is a professional picture framer and the practical force behind much of Greenhills. With many years of professional framing experience, Greg has a keen eye for craftsmanship and presentation and is always happy to help artists with questions about framing their work.

Around Greenhills, Greg can usually be found somewhere between the framing workshop, studio, garden and kitchen. He helps keep the Centre running, looks after guests and shares the cooking and hospitality that are such an important part of the Greenhills experience.

Together, Greg and Johanna have created Greenhills as the kind of place they would want to stay themselves — relaxed, welcoming and personal, with good food, beautiful surroundings and plenty of time for creativity.
