Printmaking Retreat with Francesco Geronazzo
7-11 May 2026
This RETREAT aims to explore in depth the combinations of traditional and experimental methods of printmaking. Particularly traditional processes like drypoint, mezzotint and others that, when combined with more readily known methods, will help us to better understand our own practice.
Generating plates of different materials like zinc, polycarbonate, cardboard, tetra pack will be the main focus of this first session. Then by proofing what we made (with different colours) we will gain a better understand of where we can improve and explore further the outcomes of mono printing, gum print and other pictorial methods for generating unique states.
The goal of this 3- day activity is to give participants the opportunity to expand on their own creative identity by exploring different methods of printmaking.
Learn how to generating tonal effects without the use of any chemical it’s the aim of this Retreat. Being able to combine the drawing component of the process (dry point with unconventional tools as well) with darker areas and details (carborundum) will be the focus of the experience. This would make possible expanding sizes of the plates while keeping the environment safe and sound. NON TOXIC printmaking is what we love and the direction we take as much as we can.
Francesco has generously offed to gift the first 8 early bird bookings a monoprint kit (a great technique to use at home without having a print press)!
