Still Life and Interiors with Leanne Pearson
6-10 August 2026
Join multi award-winning artist Leanne Pearson in her much sort after Figures in Oils retreat at the Greenhills Art Centre.
Over 3 full days Leanne will instruct you on how to loosen up your painting style whilst building your confidence to create expressive paintings, glowing with vibrant colour and depth.
Note: Please note: some experience is necessary. You may use acrylics if you prefer, as both mediums are welcome.
Leanne’s workshop teaches the fundamentals of designing a painting to create a beautiful composition, focal point and tonal impact. We will focus on manipulation of shapes on the canvas to create exciting compositions, colour fundamentals and tone.
Leanne was born in Zimbabwe and spent most of her life in South Africa. She now lives in Perth where she has been teaching weekly classes for the last 20 years.
Recently she has stepped away from teaching weekly classes and is now concentrating on giving intensive workshops nationally and internationally
Leanne has written a book called plein air painting with confidence. This book has had great reviews and been widely sold. It is now onto its second printing. Leanne also has her own platform for her online teaching videos. She has won 18 major awards including a $50,000 Portrait prize and has taken the open award for the Plein Air Downunder for the last 3 consecutive years 2022,2023,2024.
She gets her inspiration from early 19th century Masters like Joaquin Sorrolla and many others. Leanne has done workshops with American master artists Richard Schmidt, Dan McCaw, Danial Gerhartz, Jennifer McChristian and Scott Burdick to name a few and has also done many with local artists including Australian master landscape artist John Wilson. She is very passionate about expressing light which she does through her bravura brushstrokes and loose expressive and impressionistic style. She is also a colourist and is known for her bold use of colour.
Leanne loves sharing her passion with others through her international mentorship group on the Mastrius platform and through her workshops and teaching platforms.
She is energetic, supportive and enjoys wholeheartedly connecting with others through her art.
